1. Rio Celeste
Probably the most iconic waterfall in Costa Rica; the turquoise blue waters draw a great many visitors each year. A guided tour will take you along the river to where the two tributaries meet to make the remarkable color. While swimming is not allowed in the park, many tours stop to allow visitors to take a dip just downriver.
2. Arenal Volcano National Park
The 1968 eruption left a large lava flow in the park that now hosts a nice set of hiking trails. Multiple vantage points offer a spectacular view of the massive volcano.
3. Fortuna Waterfall
This waterfall thunders down over one hundred feet to the water below. A refreshing swimming hole offers a great way to cool down in the tropical heat.
4. Tabacon Hot Springs
While dozens of resorts offer expensive packages to enjoy the thermal heated springs, the river is easily access from the road. It also offers the same warm soothing waters in a series of cascading pools.
5. Monteverde Cloud Forest
High in the mountains of Monteverde, this cloud forest is home to many unique species of flora and fauna. Choose from any number of trails that cross through this enchanting forest.

With so many waterfalls throughout the country, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. Many popular destinations have guided tours available.
7. Montezuma Beach
This quiet little surf town on the Pacific Ocean is the perfect mix of friendly locals and expats. Head to this town to enjoy the peace and tranquility as well as the series of waterfalls running down the mountain.
