Just down the road from Cascada Salto lies another gorgeous waterfall, Cascada el Meco. Easily seen from a vantage point next to the road, there’s no need for visitors to hike to it. The multistage waterfall offers an impressive view of several streams of water running over the exposed rock face.
For visitors wishing to enjoy the cool blue water that runs down the river, there is a picnic and free parking area just down river off of Calle 20 de Noviembre. From there you can catch a boat upriver to the base of the falls or tube further down river over small rapids with a guide for a few dollars.
After swimming around for a little while, we were lucky enough to meet a kind family that offered us free tacos from the picnic they were having. After enjoying our delicious tacos and thanking the family, we climbed back into the car and drove off for Cascada Minas Viejas.
