Playita Rosada is located on the southern coast in Lajas, Puerto Rico. While it’s one of the 15 must see beaches in Puerto Rico, there’s one aspect that sets it apart from all the others. It is home to a ocean water swimming pool.
The pool is nothing more than a boardwalk with a wire mesh enclosure but that doesn’t detract from it’s worth. However, the depth of the pool is about 4-5 feet on average and the waves are typically calm enough for all swimmers.
Playita Rosada is a popular picnic spot since it has many tables and a couple pavilions. Additionally, it has bathroom facilities and plenty of parking in a dirt lot only a few steps away from the beach.
If you feel like taking a short hike, there is a path along the rocks to the east. When you’re done, Playita Rosada’s pool will be the perfect way to cool off.
If you are staying in San Juan, it is about a two hour drive. So, I recommend making a day trip that includes Cabo Rojo and Puente de Piedra.

The day we went, there were some small waves in it, but it can be almost totally calm other days. Due to the waves, the water was a little turbid, but still nice. On calm days you can see (smaller) fish swimming on the pool area.
