Cascada Salto del Agua or simply Cascada Salto was the first waterfall I went to on my trip to Huasteca Potosina, Mexico and I was blown away by it. I didn’t think there could be any other amazing waterfalls to compare until I visited Cascada de Tamul and Cascada de Minas Viejas.
The waterfall is free to access and some parking is available just next to it in a dirt lot. Just upstream is a dam that is used to hydroelectric generation so the water is sometimes diverted, but luckily it was coming down in full force the day I went.
There are several pools that the water cascades into where you can swim in. If you’re going to jump in, just test the depth first. If you decide to swim over towards the main waterfall, be advised the current is a little strong.
When you’ve had enough of this gorgeous waterfall, be sure to head down the road to Cascada el Meco and the recreation area nearby.
